Purse RAK

Is this the cutest RAK (Random act of kindness)? OMG - I am so blessed to have a friend like Frances - in the past, she has made many other surprises for me and allowed me to post them (no - she doesn't have a blog and I am really encouraging her to have one). This is a smaller version of Becky Roberts purse (love Becky!!!! http://www.inkingidaho.blogspot.com/) Finished purse size without the handles is: 5-1/2" (at bottom) x 4" (to the top of the purse). The purse handles at 10" long. There's a surprise inside............keep looking...........

Like the buckle? it's a die from ???? but I do love the eyelets

The center pocket flap opens:

The right side has a tag (small oval punch) with a chain:

Inside: can you see?

The back:

And here is what is inside the purse: a small wallet: the wallet size is 3" x 3-3/4"

The belly band comes off:

Ooooooooh............look what's inside! Yet another surprise!!!!! Isn't it way cool? Frances waved her magic wand and shrunk down the flag style card to make this cute wallet.

There are even 2 inside tags that can be removed:

Now isn't this the cutest?

This was a absolute great week.............Thanks for stopping by today..........hugs!!! Have a great weekend.

Tea Pot Album for Mom

A Tea pot for Mom that will be an album of all her 5 grown kids....I think she will like it because she is a crafter, too. She had made roses using US Currency bills - such a master wizard! Other teapots had been posted on my blog: 2/19/10 Chinese Tea Pot and 2/25 Butterfly Green Tea Holder. The tutorial to make the holder is posted on 2/19 - see the side bar to quickly locate the posting by the month.

Close up of finished rose:

Side view:

Here is the inside accordion album:

Closer view of the inside top of the tags:

The tag at the side handle:
The back:
The front (before all the embellishing) and covered with Melon Mambo DSP:

To make the flower, here's what I did. (There are many tutorials out there)" - punch out flowers and sponge edges.
Cut out the center, cut some sections out, and make slits in between each petal. Curl each petal using a bone folder or piercer (not shown in photo):

This is what is needed for the tea pot front:
(1) completed Melon Mambo Rose
(2) Certainly Celery CS Little Leaves
(2) Old Olive CS Little Leaves
(2) Vellum CS Large Butterflies
(2) Vellum CS Medium Butterflies
(1) Vellum CS Small Butterfly
(1) Wide Oval stamped with "love you much" in Whisper White CS
(1) Melon Mambo CS punched Scallop Oval
M-O-M die cut using Melon Mambo DSP
This is what is needed to make the inside accordion album:
(5) Melon Mambo tags
(5) Vellum CS Butterflies
(5) Old Olive Little leaves
(1) strip Melon Mambo DSP 3-1/2" x 11-1/4". On the 11-1/4" side, score 2-3/4", 5-1/2", 8-1/4", 11" which leaves 1/4" to add on the last panel.
(1) panel in Melon Mambo DSP cut 3-1/2" x 2-3/4"

Use a dauber to apply Melon Mambo to the DSP as shown:

It is easier (for me) to apply adhesive to the DSP, then place the tag right up against the folded seam line:
Finished photo holder should look like this:

To have a great looking hang tag: thread linen thread through hole, tie an double knot (see the top of the tag) and then tie a knot about 1/2" apart. Then tie and make a bow around the handle.
Supplies:
  • Stamps: Well Scripted
  • CS: Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Melon Mambo DSP, Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Card Stock Vellum
  • Ink: Melon Mambo
  • Accys: SU Big Shot Exclusive 2 Tags Die, SU Naturally Serif Alphabet Die, SU Exclusive Beautiful Butterflies Embosslit Die, SU Exclusive Little Leaves Sizzlit Die, Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Wide Oval Punch, 1/16" Hand Held Punch, Linen Thread, Pop Up Dots, 2 Way Glue Pen, Mini Glue Pen, Stamping Dauber

Island Oasis Fun Mini Book

I have been working on this mini album......whew! The album style is the creation of Laura @ www.followingthepapertrail.blogspot.com You NEED to check out her Utube video tutorial from March 3, 2010 called "Wavy Envelope Mini Album" - (link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Flm_fq3roCg&feature=related) yup, the inside pages are (5-1/2) #10 Envelopes (legal size). So I will not be showing how to do this - proceed to her site. Here's the front of the album: finished project size is 4-1/2" x 6-1/2". The front and back covers are made from Matt Board - yup - Matt board (courtesy of Teri F). 1" White O-wires were used for this project. Loose Rings can also be used as well.

Here is the front cover flower: use the Island Floral Bigz Die to cut through felt purchased from your local fabric store or anywhere you can get the color to look decent. A tempting turquoise punched 5 petal flower and a extra large flower also nests in this mix. That brad: not sure where that came from but I found it in my stash and it works so I used it (one less brad lying around). Secure with Pop Up dots.

Stamp "remember" from the new In a Word stamp set in Tempting Turquoise ink and punch out with the round tab punch, pop with dimensionals. The "FUN" is chipboard covered with Tempting Turquoise CS with details using a white gel pen. Adhere words to cover using anywhere glue pen.

Back cover:

A panoramic view of the inside:

Left photo: overview
Right photo: Inside front left cover with a wavy envelope pocket (3-1/2" high) where a personal note (3-1/2" x 4") can be written or a small photo. The right side is the start of many wavy envelopes where the white tag pulls out. Total (10) tags in this album either for photos or for journaling. Envelope tag size is 5" x 4", each corner punched with a corner rounder.

Each of the solid CS in this album are stamped with the Tropical Party images using Versamark ink. Each white tag insert has a matching 1-3/4" punched circle in the back.

Here are the Flowers used for the tags: Use the 5 petal flower to punch out the tips. Pair up the flowers to plan the position in the album. Use the SU Exclusive Dot Impression Folder to create texture on the flowers. Remember to punch (2) each of 5 colors for both the 5 Petal Flower and the 1-3/4" Circle.

Left photo: Pull out all the ribbons!!!! Mix and match ribbons for the spine: cut 8" long - add white ribbon, too. If loose leaf rings are used, reduce amount of ribbon to be used.
Right photo: Here's the cut felt flowers for the front from the Island Floral die - the tempting turquoise is a punched 5 Petal Punch. I later added a punched extra large fancy flower using the Island Oasis DSP.
Left photo: did you notice the white gel stitched lines in the front and back cover? "Stitch" 1/8" away from the edge on only three sides.
Right photo: Use Versamark to randomly stamp Tropical Party images.
Left photo: Stamp "remember" and cut 1" wide x 2-5/8". Use the round tab punch to create the pointed ends.
Right photo: Not fun at all to trace and cut out the chipboard letters in tempting turquoise. I searched through alphabet stamps and dies. None worked but some "random" letters I had were perfect. Thank goodness, I only had to hand cut 3 letters. Adhere with anywhere glue stick.
