Peek-A-Boo Card

This is a card for a shoebox swap - sorry you all missed it. This card engineering is from Dawn - see her video from2/28/08 on her web site - it is waaaay cool.(http://www.dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad.com). Here's my version. I also added little "dots" on to the flowers using a white gel pen which does not show up very well in the photo. This is an optional step. Dawn's card uses a 1-1/4" Circle Punch, I used1-1/2".

Open the card and it reveals the message: "You crack me Up"

Here's a close-up of the message:

Here is a close-up of the Chick:

And here is the top view of the card.

Some tips to make this card:
1. Put each sheet of paper through the Big Shot Textured Plates
2. Stamp Chick and message before punching out.
3. Color chick and apply glitter after card is completed to allow for it to dry
4. To make the "rings" around the openings: use 1-1/2" circle punch, then use 1-3/4" punch. You will need 3 of these.
5. Apply the Dazzling Diamond glitter last so it can dry.
You've got to go to Dawn site for the measurements and her MUST SEE video!

A message for Regina

No post today - a message for Regina (from Germany) in Friday's (3/27) comment section.

More Manhattan Floral Favors

This week has been devoted to creating projects with the Big Shot Textured Impression Die. I've looked at all my supplies to see what else I can emboss...........only thing left is the Scallop Circle.....nah! maybe........ I can't wait to try this on a scrapbook page. The Big Shot Top Note Die made into a tote and the Basket came out great (I think). The butterfly from Great Friend gives it another dimension!

Below is a side view of the tote box: it is 3-1/2"x1"x1-1/4" stuck between 2 Top Notes with sticky tape.

Surprise: here's my favorite color: Red with white!

Back side of tote is plain CS. Side view of tote:

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Great Friend, Matchbox Messages
  • CS: Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Real Red
  • Ink: Black, Pink Pirouette, Real Red
  • Accys: Big Shot Top Note Die + Matchbox Bigz XL Die + Basket & Blooms Die + Textured Impressions Die, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, Large Oval Punch, Real Red and Black Stampin' Write Pen, White Taffeta Ribbon, Sticky Tape, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Stamp-a-ma-jig

Fantasy Manhattan Floral

Can you tell I am lovin' this embossing folder - SU calls it a Textured Impressions Die? This version screams for a Wedding Occasion. Thank goodness the folder can cover a larger surface area than Cuttlebug folders. I also used the embossing folder on the Big Shot Petal Card Die and Big Shot Pillow Box die.

Below is the card. Flat back pearls from the Pretties kit were used.
Here is a close-up of a couple "new" items: New Scallop Oval Punch and "Best Wishes" stamp from Oval All stamp set both available to purchase April 1! The large oval punch is perfect for the stamped words. Gorgeous!

Using the Big Shot Petal Card Die, fold up 2 of the 4 petals , trim folded petals to finish 3/4", and you have the heart shape. The back of this treat holder is plain. Handles, using ribbon or card stock can easily be made, too.

Maybe this is my favorite: the Big Shot Pillow Box Die. The embossing folder easily fits and the results are elegant.

Supplies:
  • Stamps: Oval All
  • CS: Very Vanilla, Whisper White
  • Ink: Black
  • Accys: Large Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Pretties Kit, Dimensionals, Sticky Tape, White Taffeta Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots

Thank you for stopping by today. These projects are really easy to do, try it ..............see you tom..................

Red Manhatten Floral

Another Manhattan Floral texture Plate used to create this card in my favorite color: RED. The embossed rose is cut out, sanded, then ink is applied using daubers to achieve the sueded look. The entire cut rose section is attached to the solid background using dimensionals.

This is a close up view of the "celebrate" label which is part of the SU exclusive Matchbox die. The Matchbox Messages stamp is also an exclusive - both available from the Occasions Mini catalog which starts on April 1.

Here's a closer view of the flat back pearls attached with mini glue dots.

Supplies:
  • Stamps: Matchbox Messages
  • CS: Real Red, Whisper White
  • Ink: Real Red
  • Accys: Big Shot Matchbox Bigz XL Die, Big Shot Textured Impressions Die, Stamp-a-ma-jig, SU Sanding Blocks, Dimensionals, Flat Back Pearls from the Pretties kit, Mini Glue Dots, 1/8" Punch or Crop-o-dile, Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon.

Pink Manhatten Floral Impression

Got this Big Shot Floral Textured plate with my pre-order last week and have been "playing" with it (see pg 202 SU main catalog). This plate works exactly the same as the Cuttlebug embossing dies but this specific floral can only be ordered through SU - there's a matching stamp set (see pg 106 Fifth Avenue Floral). This is very delicate and feminine project. The Big Shot matchbox die is also a SU exclusive - it is way cool to not only cut quickly - the score lines are also sooooo great to have! The Floral texture plate was also used for the matchbox cover. Those labels and the butterfly: yes, they are all part of the Matchbox die set available to order from the Occasions Catalog that starts April 1!

Below card using items from the Occasions Catalog, The Great Friend stamp set has the butterfly (cut and fold in half for that 3-D effect and prop on a dimensional) and the "for you" along with the leaves used on the tag. Those rhinestone brads: from the Pretties kit.

Below matchbox top view.

Blurry view (sooooo sorry!) of the box with a bead pull (from the Pretties kit) attached with a glue dot

Bottom inside matchbox is lined with scrap of Pink Pirouette Designer Paper.

Another blurry photo (sorry): Underside of the matchbox: there are 4 clear beads for "feet": from the Pretties Kit attached using glue dots

Supplies:
  • Stamps: Great Friend, Matchbox Messages
  • CS: Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette Designer Paper
  • Ink: Black, Pink Pirouette
  • Accys: Big Shot Textured Floral Plate, Big Shot Matchbox Bigz XL Die, Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots, Pretties Kit, Sticky Tape, 1/8" punch or Crop-o-dile, Stamp-a-mah-jig.

This Floral Textured plate is very easy to use and quick to make a card that is quite impressive.................thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoyed this one............

Asian Matchbox Tower

Stampin Up's exclusive matchbox die for the Big Shot is a hit! I've been making these from scratch. It is so much quicker now using the Big Shot. The die is available for purchase on April 1 (no foolin). Here's my version of making matchboxes that are "out of the box": a few views below. The band with 1/4" Real Red Grosgrain holds each matchbox together. Each pullout drawer has Grosgrain pulls made by punching (2) 1/8" circles and threading the grosgrain through with square knots.

Here's the top view. Each Embossed flower is hand curled and has a Gold Brad. The Larger flower has 2 dimensionals for additional "height".

This view revealing contents of the drawers.

(2) drawers have chocolate kisses.

The middle drawer contains a long note: stamped flowers along the inside. "for you" is the stamp from Great Friend (available in the Occasions Mini Catalog on April 1). Just think: how many matchboxes can be stacked!

The Tower: Unassembled

Supplies:
  • Stamps: Eastern Blooms, Embrace Life, Great Friend
  • CS: Real Red, Black, Naturals Ivory
  • Ink: Versamark, Real Red, Black
  • Accys: BIG Shot Match Box Die, Gold Embossing Powder, 1/4" Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon, 1/8" circle Punch (or Crop-o-dile), Gold Brads, Dimensionals, Pop Up Glue Dots.

Thank you for stopping by today...............more tom.

Asian Recycle Album

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick update: am having lots of technical issues so no posting will happen until they are all resolved. My DB (Darling boyfriend) is trying very hard to fix...........I can't even upload photos! Yeek! So, please be patient.

Some of you have asked for a tutorial on the Asian Recycle Album using toilet paper rolls. I just realized the tutorial is limited access for Demonstrators on the Split Coast Site. OK - I will do one........but can only provide after my computer issues are resolved. Thanks for your patience and continued support.

my best,
Patti

March Swaps

I'm so lucky to get more swaps: This one is not really a swap, it's a "Thank You" card from a very creative friend: Frances - don't you just love her colors and "puff" technique for the Kimono?

This swap is from Kathleen - I love the colors and the way the metal slide is being used for the ribbon - yippee, no ribbon tieing necessary!

This card is really made in a great shade of green - the photo is not too good. A scoring technique is used along with gold embossing for this card.

Thanks for stopping by................

Asian Recycle Album

This is a Split Coast stampers challenge using the tubes from toilet paper to create an album - the tutorial is also on Split Coast. I've used 5 tubes for this project. I chose BIA O-rings instead of loose leaf rings. Throughout this project, gold embossing powder was used. Below is inside of page 1-2.

Below inside pages 3-4:

Below inside pages 5-6:

Below inside pages 7-8:

Below back of album:

These are the tags inside the "tubes" for photos or journaling,

Top view of album:

Note: do not attempt to use a punch through the tubes for the tags - it is waaaay too thick! I used Sticky tape on this project since regular adhesive was not doing the trick. It will be helpful to flatten tubes for at least a day.
Supplies:
  • Stamps: Embrace Life, Eastern Blooms Celebrate Everything
  • CS: Real Red, Black, Natural Ivory
  • Ink: Versamark, Black
  • Accys: Tag Corner Punch, Round Tab Punch, Gold Embossing Powder, 1" Black BIA O-wires (non SU), 1/4" Real Red and Black Grossgrain Ribbon, Dimensionals, Sticky Tape, Stampin' Write Black Pen.

Try this project - it was fun!
