Year of the Rat Sister Stamps

Today is the 2nd day for the Sister Stamps Zodiac Release Year of the Rat. The frame used on the card is from the Silhouette on Line Library Asian Frame. Papers used: Washi paper from Hanko Designs, Recollections Blue, White, Black card stock, Stampin Up Brocade Blue Card Stock. The Cuttlebug Asian Embossing Folder also used for the small front panel.

Pull up the lantern panel which slides up to reveal the computer generated message:
Copic colors used: Black 110, R81, R00, W1, W3, W5,
First, stamp the image, color the bottom image and color top image - eliminating the tail and left ear. Then pop with foam squares to create this look. Then pop the entire image with foam squares.
Rat Kanji SVG made using SCAL computer program. Ovals are made also using SCAL library basic shapes. Easy to customize the Kanji and the ovals to fit perfectly.
To make this basic card:
(1) 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored on the 8-1/2" side @ 4-1/4" (I actually used my machine to cut this since there was a 3 sided opening on the card front). The 3 sided opening depends on the image or frame being used for the card.  The opening can be cut using a craft knife or cutting machine.  Note: the following measurements are based on the frame size used.
(1) 4" x 5-1/4" Frame (opening is 2-1/2" x 3-1/2")
(1) Washi mat (opening is 2-1/2" x 3-1/2")
(1) 3-1/2" x 5" white card stock
(1) 3-1/2" x 1-3/4" Brocade Blue card stock - embossed
(1) 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" white card stock with printed message

CC Designs Line of Lanterns Cling Stamp and Chinese Lanterns Die. Color two of the lanterns using Copic B26, B23, B32. Use the Copic colors to color the tassels on the lanterns, too.
Adhere the 2-1/2" X 3-1/2" message onto the front:
Add sticky tape to these pieces:
After adhering the front frame and washi, cut out both the front and back of the card as shown.
Position the 3-1/2" X 1-3/4"  embossed panel as shown (front view with card front lifted up):
OR Slide the 3-1/2" X 1-3/4" panel underneath the front tongue as shown. Remove sticky tape on the 3-1/2" X 1-3/4" panel.
Place the 3-1/2" x 5" panel on top: be sure to line up the top of the card to the top of the panel
Last step is to remove sticky tape from the card front and secure.

Christmas Traditions Embellish Mini Album

I love mini books and make them when I get a chance.  Here's one designed by the Embellish Team.  It's quite a chunky album using the chipboard ring binder album from Maya Road as the base. Papers and stickers, Rhinestones used are from Echo Park This and That (supplied in the kit).  There are now a total of 7 pages. I actually had to remove a page because it got too chunky. Don't you just love the cover with those chunky chipboard elements and rhinestones? Finished binder size is 9" x 8-1/4" x 1-1/4".

Original instructions did not call to add paper to cover the back nor the spine but I felt it was incomplete so strategically tried to save the paper so it can be done:
Open up the cover to reveal decorative mats that can be slipped in and out of pockets:
This simple page is embellished with chipboard stickers:
Next page is wood panelled paper with pockets on both sides:

This page has the frame attached on two sides to slip two additional mats. The right side is made from the embellishment packaging, then covered with some red card stock - see the next page for the mats out of the right side and the pocket un-done:
cool, eh?
This page has one pocket on the right side:
The mats on the left side are fixed but the tickets on the right side are movable to slip a photo. both the white and smaller plaid mat are removable, too.
On the left side: a vertical pocket with three mats that slip inside along with a small pocket. The right side is a horizontal pocket that has two mats that slip in.
The last double page: another vertical pocket on the left side.
There is plenty of room for photos and other fun stuff in this book. I am glad to finally complete this album to share with you. Hope you enjoyed it and will be inspired to make one of your own. Happy crafting!

Birthday Cards

Time to muster up some cute cards suitable for 10 year old TWINS!!!! Yikes - and they have unique personalities.BOTH cards have a wobble for that fun factor.
First card is for Jack: made from the SVG cut file Ninja Kicks from Lettering Delights. Background stamped white mat is using Black Hero Arts ink and the Hero Arts Chinese Newspaper Word Print. The "10" is stamped using the numbers from Stampendous Fifteen Candles stamp set. "Wish Big" stamp set used inside is from Stamping Up Word Play.
Love this Happy Birthday font:
The Happy Birthday SVG cut file is from Miss Kate Cuttables found here.  Note: this cut file can also be found in the Silhouette on line store here. The colorful paper with candles and hats is from K and Company Birthday Scrap Kit.  I am able to personalize this cut file by replacing the "to you" words with "10th, Emma" on the cake.  "Make a Wish" stamp set inside the card is from Cloud 9 Simple Thoughts - Happy Birthday.
Yellow stickles added to candle tops:

Fun cards....................have a great crafty day!

Button Farm Christmas Journal

I got this beautiful Button Farm Christmas Journal Kit at a scrap all day event a couple months ago - it's time to complete it. It is a perfect journal for the 25 days prior to Christmas.  I had to be sure there were enough spots for both journaling as well as photos taken. This album is 7" x 9". The binder (Brag Book from Fancy Pants Designs) consists of 60 pages, 15 -2 photo sleeves and 15 pocket pages..........I was able to remove about 7 of the photos sleeves and pocket pages along with un-needed journaling pages.  All the pages and cut elements have been sponged with brown ink.  The gorgeous green iridescent wire ribbon is a perfect accent holding the metal key in front of the red glittered Christmas Tree.
I also applied red stickles to words: "JOY"
See the tree and "25" with red stickles, too:
Inside cover: the Merry Bingo card is removable, it opens like a card for additional photos and journalling. Wherever I could, I added little "pockets" to be able to slip little mementos. The right side has a post card which is only attached on two sides.
Two journalling pages are glued together so they can be more sturdy (original journaling page is the weight of copy paper: a bit thin). The formula for this book is the same throughout......two journaling pages, embellish with tags on the backside, then a 2 photo sleeve page, then a pocket page.  In the many photos below, you will see how some of the pages have been embellished with the decorative paper (by Simple Stories). The photos are self explanatory and will give you an idea how easily this album was completed.
Here's the first of the 2-photo sleeve with cut tags that can easily be removed and replaced with a photo.
Here's the first of the pocket pages where additional journaling and photos can be kept.
So now the format will be repeating the end of the day, I had 14 journaling pages, 8 two photo sleeve pages, and 7 pockets...........plenty!
Note, I have used one of the journaling pages to slip into the pocket.
On some of the pages (left side on this photo), some of the tags were made into little cards that open up for photos or journaling
so I skipped to the inside back cover with the message:  merry Christmas to you!
This was a great project and I can't wait to fill it..........................
