Birthday Event - Part 1, Everywhere Red

Is this the most gorgeous shopping bag you have ever seen? Not only it is my absolute favorite color - it is also with Asian images - Fabulous!!! This was my gift from Frances. Can you guess? Last week was my birthday and celebrating it was suppose to be a low key event. My friends were not going to let me off the hook so easily. They surprised me with some great SURPRISES last week...........so there will be a few blog parts to share their wonderful gifts............I just love this bamboo handle, too along with the red tissue paper.

This On-the-go Tote was inside - of course, in my favorite colors red/black. I know Frances searched very hard for this tote since it appears this color is no longer readily available. I just love it. Note a key chain, Mouse ears and a teeny tiny Pooh (my favorite Disney Character) is on the handle top. LOVE the drawer at the tote bottom. This tote is 18" x 8" x 8" and best of all, it comes with a carousel spinner base.............cool, eh? I can't wait to fill it up.

Here is a side view:

There was also a card from Frances..............Look at this!!!!

No - it's not a card............it's a purse album of the fun and memorable times we spent together............this is so way cool!!!

Here's the top view:

Back view:

Frances also brought favor mementos for all the guest: love this cherry blossom branch on a embossed background. Inside note book is from the local craft store.
MORE: she even had enough energy to make jelly belly tube treats for everyone. Isn't this just wonderful?

There is a hint of glitter on the scallop circle: love this red/black theme...............
Gee.....this is only Part 1.....aw shucks, Frances doesn't have a blog.....more to come so stay tuned this week for more gift shares...............

Mini Pillow Box

I love this mini Pillow Box - see the tutorial from Lyssa on her blog on 5/11/09: www.songofmyheartstampers.typepad.com
This is such a clever way to miniaturize this box. The size becomes 2" x 3" (excluding the handle) x 1/2"
Back: Note the DSP should have been in the front to hide the seam.

You will need:
(1) Chocolate Chip 3-1/2" x 5" for the pillow box
(1) 3/4" x 5-1/2" DSP
(1) 1-1/4" Pretty in Pink punched 1-1/4" Circle
(1) 1" punched and stamped Whisper White image
(1) Chocolate Chip Handle
To make the handle: use the word window punch first, then the large oval punch:

Attach handle to the top. Apply sticky tape to close the mini pillow box. Prepare the Circle punch in Pretty in pink and stamped image. Pop with a dimensional, then attach to the DSP. Note: the DSP can be attached around the pillow box horizontally or vertically. Randomly attach a mini butterfly on the circle.

Supplies:

  • Stamps: Circle Circus
  • CS: Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, DSP (unknown)
  • Ink: Chocolate Chip
  • Accys: SU Big Shot Pillow Box die, SU Exclusive Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die, Wide Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Sticky Tape, Dimensional, Mini Glue Dot.

Flower Card

This pocket card is a past favorite card style - bring it back!!!! NOW fill it with flowers. I love how this turned out. Simple layering of the flower shapes makes this easy to make. Leave the flowers flat or they can be shaped with a bone folder. Flip up the pocket for an additional area to leave a message. Card size is 5-1/2" x 4-1/4".

With note card removed: message to be stamped later.

Card front template:

Note Card measurements:

Cut pieces:
(1) 5-1/2" x 8-1/4" Rose Red CS, score as shown in above template
(1) 4" x 5-1/4" Rose Red DSP
(3) sets of flowers in Whisper White CS
(1) 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" note card in Whisper White CS (not shown in photo)
(5) leaves in a mixture of sizes for variety (not shown in photo)
(3) 3/3" Punched circles in Rose Red CS for flower centers. (not shown in photo)

Using a sponge dauber and Rose Red ink, ink the centers of each flower.
Assembly: follow the green arrows
Use the wide oval punch as well as the large oval punch for punch out the leaves. Fold them in half, then put them through the crimper.
Here are the finished flowers and leaves:
Using the Big Shot, position the 4-1/2" x 5-1/4" paper into the Vintage Wallpaper in the folder for this great impression

Attach the Rose Red DSP 1/8" away from the edge, then fold the Rose Red DSP back (underneath). You may not wish to attach the DSP while the paper is flat. The fold lines will cause the paper to "buckle". Insert the white note card. Using the back of the card, cut off the excess. Your card should now look like this:

Supplies:
  • Stamps: none
  • CS: Rose Red, Whisper White, Old Olive, Rose Red DSP (retired)
  • Ink: Rose Red
  • Accys: SU Exclusive Vintage Wallpaper Impression Folder, SU Exclusive Big Shot Blossom Party Die, Large Oval Punch, Wide Oval Punch, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Sponging Daubers, Dimensionals, Crimper.
