Shades of Purple Lei

This Lei is named: Orchid Lei.  It is made for my Grand Niece in her favorite colors.  See the Blue and Gold Lei posted a couple days ago,  too. The ribbon size used for this lei is 7/8" wide except for the "spikes" which are 1/8" wide gold and purple color.  This lei has a spiral effect.  Purple and Lavender colors used for this lei.  There is a combination of sheer and solid satin. Finished lei length is 42" long.

If you wish to make one for a special event, instructions can be found when you visit the island of Hawaii (Oahu).  Check out the retail store and schedule lessons at U'I Mau A Mau LLC.  They do have a website: www.uimauamau.com. There are many types of lei samples on their site but in person hands on instructions are a must in order to complete the first lei.  But if you can't make it to the Island and live on the West Coast, contact  Chris Tanizawa at ctanizawa@gmail.com for FREE lei making classes in Union City, California. She has various lei kits for purchase and has a schedule for her classes.

Here's a closer look:
Hope this will inspire you to make a lei, too. Have a crafty day.

Each petal is cut 2-1/2" long using 7/8" wide ribbon, then folded.
