Asian Block Box Marci with Lantern

La-la Land Workshop 2 day workshop Project #10 :
Original design for this project is using Baby Luka stamped image with a variety of soft colored pattern papers looking very much like a patchwork quilt or Stacked Baby Blocks – great for any baby shower or a newborn. Although I love the Baby version, my vision was to create this project with Marci with Lantern using some Washi Paper (in Red, Black and Gold – my favorite colors!).  This was fun to re-create with a Asian flair.

Most of the labor for this project is the task of cutting 22 double matted squares. Once they are assembled, the project does come to life quickly.  Washi paper can be purchased from Hanko Designs here.
Project was assembled, then a Black marker as used to cover the natural color of the paper board.  On the front of this project, Marci with Lantern is popped with foam squares on top of the Stitched Oval (part of the Stitched Elements die set).  Cherry Blossoms die and Open Leaf Flourish die embellish each side of the image. Stamp and dies can be found in the La-la Land Crafts store here.
Copic colors used:
Hair and Shoes: W2, W4, W6, W8
Face: Face: E000, E00, E11, R20, R39
Clothes:Y15, Y19, Y21, R01, R22, R27, R35, R46, E50
And, oh yes Marci’s outfit has hand drawn blossoms on a white background to match the Washi paper used on the box. Finished project size is: 6” x 6” x 2-1/8”
Those red wire things?  Those are Japanese paper Strings which can be purchased from Hanko Designs here. Cut the strings to length and wrap around the end of a small paint brush for this effect.

More Cherry Blossoms:
The best part of this project is the “secret” drawer on the right side that pulls out. Cherry Blossoms die used for the drawer pull. The blossoms are spritzed with water, crumpled, allowed to slightly dry, then opened. Cherry Blossoms are adhered to several layers of a  ¾” circle which is them popped with foam squares.
Outside of the drawer is covered in Black card stock. Inside drawer is covered is Red card stock, then embossed with Cuttlebug Asian Cherry Blossom embossing folder.
On the back of the project, a few more Cherry Blossoms and Open Leaf Flourish embellish each side of the oval.
Underneath the box are four wooden feet painted black, adhered to Black card stock (no photo).  Thank you for stopping by to visit today. Stay tuned for the final project from the 2 day La-la Land Workshop. It is absolutely fabulous!!!!
