Asian Book of Tags

Does this look like an old time photo? Original image is a color copy. It was altered and applied onto a purchased Book. This leather book was purchased from a local discount retailer.........there are many such books and this one was $2.95 so I couldn't pass it up to alter. Size of book is: 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" x 1-1/2". This project is quite quick to complete and brings back the times my Mom had in China.

The front image is painted with gold shimmer paint, edges are torn and sponged in gold.

Altered spine with coins and newspaper:

Inside left side:

There are 5 tags inside:

Here's what is used to embellish the book: The butterflies and Mother/Child images were completed from an earlier class I took.

To age the newspaper, ink up the edges with Really Rust, Close to Cocoa, and More Mustard ink.

Vanilla tags are 2-1/4" x 3-3/8". Stamp with Asian newspaper image using Black ink. Use Sponging daubers with Close to Cocoa ink around the tags and stamped tags.

Add on some Really Rust and More Mustard color inks to achieve that "aged look"

This is how the tags look after all that "daubbing":

SU Supplies used:
  • Stamps: none
  • CS: Kraft, Very Vanilla
  • Ink: Black, Close to Cocoa, Really Rust, More Mustard
  • Accys: SU Exclusive Two Tags Big Shot die, 3/16" Corner Rounder Punch, Sponging Daubers, Linen Thread, 1/4" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Gold Elastic (retired)

Thanks for stopping by today........HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!
