Matchbox Week: What's in the Oven?

This Matchbox Oven holds 2 Small chocolate chip cookies.

Here's a close-up:

• "Bake" is using the SU Exclusive billboard alphabet die. Adhere with Tombow Adhesive.
• To make the back of the stove, cut (1) CS 2-3/4" x 2-5/8", punch two corners with a 3/16 Corner Rounder punch.
• The rolling pin is made by using the Word Window Punch, lightly sponged using Close to Cocoa ink, then attached to (2) Real Red Horizontal Slot punched handles. The rolling pin (finished size 1-3/4") is then adhered to the back of the stove using dimensionals. Love it.
• For the stove top, a small square 1-3/8"x 5/8" is finished by using the 3/16" corner punch. There are (4) 1/4" circles on each side.

To make the oven opening, use the 1-1/4" Square Punch twice. Punch 3/8" away from each side of the Matchbox edge. Below photo shows to move 1-1/4" Square Punch over to make 2nd square. Clear Acetate is adhered on the inside opening.

Matchbox Week: It's a Bug!

This was a fun matchbox to make! Yes, it's a plastic bug inside. I didn't have smaller bugs and this large spider worked out fine. I wanted to put in chocolate ladybugs but I guess it's not this time of the year and I just couldn't find any. A handle is added at the top of the Matchbox.

Here's a better photo of the box. The lady bug is attached by using a dimensional. The word "bugs" is made by using the Sizzix SU exclusive Billboard die. I'm lovin' this alphabet die. The acetate: I found that around the house - it is attached to the Matchbox cover with adhesive inside.

Here are the "ingredients" to make this box. Missing is the Acetate in the photo. This photo shows the Large Dot Texturz Plate used for the cover.

How did I make the window for the Matchbox cover? The Scallop Square Punch is used by punching twice. Punch once and then align the scallops (see photo below) and punch again.

How is the handle made? Cut (1) piece CS 3/8" wide x 2-3/4" long. Score @1/2", 7/8", 1-7/8", 2-1/4". Be sure to position the handle and apply brads BEFORE completing the Matchbox. The inside Matchbox fold will cover the unsightly brad "legs"

Completed Handle should look like this:

Here is the lady bug: Punch (1) 1/2" Black Circle, (1) 1/4" Black Circle, (1) 1/2" Real Red Circle. Cut the Real Red Circle in half, make "dots" and make eyes using the White Gel Pen. Position on to front of Matchbox cover with a dimensional.

Matchbox Week: Beer for Him

Would a DH (Darling husband) or DB (Darling Boyfriend) like this? Front of the matchbox shown below. I was really tempted to apply Dazzling Diamonds Glitter on the edge of the beer suds but used Crystal Effects in it's place. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up in the photo.

Here is a side view showing the handle and how it is positioned. Note the suds have dimensionals behind them. "Cheers" is applied using Tombow Adhesive.

Some tips on how to make this: After using the Matchbox die, use a Crimper to provide the texture. Then use craft White ink to lightly sponge the cover.

Apply the sticky tape. Position the handle. See below how to make the handle.

Using the Tag punch, first use small tag punch. See 2nd photo how to complete handle.

Tutorial Request: Slider Card

Matchbox Week: Teapot Matchbox

Using the Exclusive Stampin-Up Matchbox Bigz XL Die, the tea pot was a snap to make. Matchbox Messages was used from the Occasions Mini catalogue for the cover . Love the white embossing powder! The tea bag will fit into the box if the packaging is removed. This is my monthly swap that has been sent out: are you one of the lucky girls?

Below is the un-assembled Teapot Matchbox. To make the lid:
-punch (2) large ovals + (1) 1/4" circle.
-The width of the box is a maximum of 3/4" so each large oval needs to be scored 3/8" (lengthwise)
-Apply adhesive to large ovals, sandwiching 1/4" circle in between at the "top".
-Position completed lid on top of "tea pot".

Below is how the "handle" and "spout" are positioned. The "spout" is hand drawn. The handles are made by using two oval punches: Small and large oval punch.

It is always so nice to receive Random Acts of Kindness (RAKs). This is a Thank You card from Kimmie. She is an amazing scrapper and makes awesome cards and invitations. I am lucky to get one of these! The back of her envelope reflects the card inside. She knows Red and Black are my very favorite colors. This is a "keeper". Love the washi paper she used at the bottom of the card.

Below is a Thank You card received from Frances. The watercoloring is way cool and there's a little bit of glitter on the flowers, too. I love the embossed swirl background and co-ordinating ribbon.
