Scrapbook Expo Make & Takes

At the recent Santa Clara Expo  (August 9, 2013) - I was fortunate to be able to do some FREE Make and Takes.  Here are a couple of the cool ones:

La-La Land Crafts: Size is 4" x 4" . Box is a "paper board, not chipboard. The sides connect like "dove tail" drawer construction. The paper used is from Graphic 45 their Kraft Collection.  All the paper pieces had been cut, including the circle which was sponged and the stamped image in the center (also sponged).  All we had to do is assemble: cool, eh?  Irina is the creator, owner, Designer of this company: her blog La-la Land Crafts found hereGears and Leaves are die cuts that are available from her shop at La-la Land Crafts. Yup, she even stamped on the message on the banner for us. Cool, eh? So go to visit Irina's store and sign up for her upcoming retreat in October in Pacifica, California if you are in the neighborhood!
Here's the flap opened to show the box inside which can be filled with treats or note cards. I actually took it apart when I got home to sponge the edges.
Another make and take at Expo was a Corset using Want 2 Scrap laser cut dress form and their Adhesive Rhinestones: This make and take was taught by Lorraine Ungeheier who represents Scrapbook Expo events (lorraine@scrapbookexpo.com). Now this was a great teacher - so much fun!!! The original make and take had us dry brush acrylic white paint onto the laser cut corset pieces.  This is my finished make and take from Scrapbook Expo with the adhesive silver and black rhinestones.
I decided to paint the corset back with black acrylic and the top corset with red acrylic. i did keep the same adhesive rhinestones.  The look is a little different but more what I prefer. What do you think?
Here's a closer look (not sure why the photo show it as a orange color - it is red):
It was fun to see all the various companies at the Santa Clara Scrapbook Expo this year.  I will be looking forward to the next one in November 2013 in Sacramento, California.

CHA Highlight Make & Takes

I was at the recent Las vegas CHA (Craft and Hobby Association Show) at the end of July and was fortunate to be able to participate in some great Make & Takes.  This one is from the Ranger: It is a 3" x 3" Burlap wrapped frame, embellished with a metal corner that has been dry washed with white acrylic paint.  The ticket and the metallic words are so wonderful for the holiday season.  Wrap a cool ribbon around the frame, attach a wreath and pin on the wishbone and metal ice skate charm.  I added the red adhesive rhinestones to the wreath.
The star hanging off the edge of the frame is attached using Glossy Accents. Love those metallic letters!!!!
See the wishbone and the ice skate charm? The words "wonderful" is part of a whole sheet of words.

Next up: a company called Lawn Fawn. Their make and takes are using their new stamp set: their blog here and the demonstrator was so much fun: her name is Nancy K. and her blog is here. Each day, we were able to make these three items and each day it was fun to visit with Nancy K.: a tag, a card, and a smaller card shown here.
Here's one of the cards: the paper is also from Lawn fawn .  Yes, they have their own paper now, too. Isn't it cute and happy? Well, guess what: their small stamps have co-ordinating dies. Yup. The candy cane, gingerbread man, and stocking are stamped, then cut out using their dies. I just love the use of the scattered sequins....................yup, sequins....got some?  Well, Lawn Fawn has that, too.  Their sequins co-ordinates with their paper.
The individual tag is 2" x 5-1/2" - clever to put two tags together for this look. The background stamp is wood grain, stamp some arrows and scatter some hearts on top of the background.   Then add the deer and the message. Love the die cut Fall leaf at the top and also the co-ordinating twine.  We used some sequins embellishment here, too on the deer.  The 2nd tag is paper is from the Lawn Fawn line.
The third card is a 4" x 3" card that uses water color pencils (on the birds). Ya gotta just love those scattered sequins for embellishing here, too. The paper is also from Lawn Fawn as well as the twine used.
Now this is the Graphic 45 make and take tags using their new collection Bohemian Bazaar and 12 Days of Christmas. Worth the wait in line!!! Because making friend while in line is so much fun and makes the waiting so much more pleasant! Left tag is the 12 Days of Christmas paper collection and the right tag is the Bohemian Bazaar paper collection released this year.  Each tag base is from Graphic 45 made from Kraft paper. with a re-enforced eyelet.
12 Days of Christmas tag has a metal keyhole that slides to open the fold down flap. The flap shows a contrast of paper and also another tag (which is part of the punch out sheets Graphic 45 offers).
Bohemian Bazaar tag is made of pocket concept.  The small pocket is on the outside pocket, pull out the small note (part of the punch out pieces in the collection).  The larger tag is inserted inside the pocket. Don't you just love this colorful collection?
Finally, this company called Little B - LOVE their Washi tapes and also their little note pads..............nothing like I have ever seen at all.  Their make and takes were using little Kraft notebooks as shown here decorated with their products.
This is the matchbox notebook.  Postmark Washi tape is used on the top, a travel-like sticker on the front, and  New York City skyline Washi tape for the bottom.................size is 4-1/2" x 3-3/4" x 1/4".
Open the flap to reveal inside contents: a roll of Washi tape is tucked inside flap along with a place for business cards. This one is from Little B.  The right side has  the New York skyline sticky notes and also narrow sticky page notes. Isn't this a great little gift to quickly make for someone?
This notebook opens like a book. It is also decorated with Washi tape on the spine and also on the corners.  the front air mail embellishment is a sticky note. Size is 3-1/2" x 5" x 3/8".
Open the flap to reveal: see how the corners were made on the inside flap? And, a inside flap to put business cards. This one is from Little B. On the right  side is a place for a small roll of Washi tape, page sticky notes and decorative sticky notes that resemble scholastic paper.
OMG - and I just love that flap that  uses tape measure Washi tape.  This flap secures the book closed.  the loop in the back also has Washi tape, too. We used a black marker to have the flap resemble a pencil tip.

All theses Make and Takes were so fun to do while at CHA this year.............it was fun!

Kimono Shadowbox Birthday Present and Card

This is a birthday present to have for always. It was made by my gal pal Gene L. who lives in Las Vegas.  She is extremely creative  as well as talented. This frame was hand carried back to San Francisco on the plane. The size is 9-1/2" x 9-1/2" x 1-1/2".  The background paper is a shimmery gold card stock.  The geometric frames are ones I had previously sent to her which she cleverly used by putting two of them together to get the outcome shown below.

The Kimono is hand drawn(? not sure) but it is impressive.  There is a piece of acetate with the kimono shape drawn, then layered over the Washi paper. I love how she used foam core to pop up the entire kimono. Cool, eh?
On the corners are these metal fans with hand cut Sakura flowers from the Washi paper. A really nice detail.
Here is the birthday card that came with the frame. Finished size of card is 6" x 5-1/4"
I love the front cover using a combination of two Washi papers and punched Sakura blossoms along with a stamped vellum message. The frame is a Spellbinders die.
Opening the card reveals the Karen Burniston's Horizontal A2 w/circle Label 3D Pop Up Die found here which is used as lanterns: Shiny Gold card stock mat is behind the bamboo stamped background.  Happy birthday is stamped on each punched Sakura blossom, then strung with a gold cord from one corner to the other.
A closer look at the lanterns using Washi paper
Overhead view:
Now these are things I will keep for a while because it is inspiring and beautiful to look at. THANK YOU, GENE for such a lovely gift.

Kimono Marci Sliding Pop Up Birthday Card

More birthday surprises? Now hold on to the table before you fall down to see this amazing, I mean an amazing Birthday card I received from my gal pal Eunice.  Yup, the famous Eunice who has a blog A Star for Chiemi which can be found here.  This card style is a pop up box where Eunice has provided measurements for the basic pop up box and tutorial posted July 14, 2013 (found here and here). I received this card a little after my birthday and just posting it now. I was sure stunned by the interactive card she painstakingly made for me.  I know she paid lots and lots of attention to detail as you will see in the photos below. The stamp sets used are from La-la Land Crafts (Kimono Marci and Marci with Lantern) which can be found here.  The main paper used is from My Little Shoebox but unfortunately, it is no longer available.......well,maybe on eBay?
Here is a closer look at the two Marci gals in the center of the card: OMG - isn't the coloring of these girls absolutely stunning?  It's what I call "perfect", eh?
Positioned in between the front and back is the cherry blossom tree limb: I believe they are punched cherry blossoms with also punched centers...............very nice!!!!
See those cherry blossoms more closely:
LOOK - the card can be folded down flat to be enclosed in an envelope:
Here is the envelope (also made by Eunice) which held the flattened card.
And, even the tag is ever so gorgeous with punched cherry blossoms and gold punched scattered sparkles.
I am extremely fortunate to have received this gorgeous card..........THANK YOU SO MUCH, EUNICE for making such an amazing card for me.

Shoe and Clutch Purse from SVGcuts.com

Now who wouldn't want to own these cool shoes and clutch.  the SVG cut files are from my absolute favorite place: SVGcuts.com.  These are two different cut file collections. The clutch was a separate free cut file that ran as a submit for a FREE gift card.  Frances C. made the clutch.  The Clutch collection cut file is called Luxury Handbags found here. The shoe was a recent FREE download again, for a FREE gift card but was part of a collection called Love Always found here. Cool, eh?  Of course, SVGcuts.com always has a You Tube video for assembling all their 3D projects which is ever so helpful.
This flower is a punch from Stampin-Up: two layers and finished off with a pearl that was Copic colored with R39. Note the shoe tip is contrast color in red card stock so the punched flower would be more visible.
The undersole is also using red card stock - just like those expensive shoes............love it!!!
Here is the clutch Frances C. made: same houndstooth paper with red contrast.

Frances also gave me this wonderful card that is part of the Luxury Bags SVG Collection.
This cool cut image fits great on the purse.
Open the purse to reveal the stamped message:
I absolutely loved this shoe and purse project.............hope it will also inspire you, too. Have a great crafty day!!!!
