Are you ready for some great projects from the La-la Land 2 day Crafts Workshop that was held at the Beverly Heritage Hotel in Milpitas, California on February 21st and February 22nd? Not knowing what to expect.....I was so happy to have been able to attend one of the famous La-la Land events................I was so pleasantly inspired by these projects. There were a total of 15 projects to be completed within the 2 days. We were given verbal instructions (and, of course, I took lots of notes) and we were off running knee deep into out projects. We even had to stop for lunch - drag us away from out projects - but we did eat and we got a great buffet breakfast the next morning, too. So, if you ever see an invitation (facebook) or news for one of these events, go for it!!! It is so much fun to make these detailed pieces and meet fellow Crafters along the way, too. This first project will be a new Project Kit release by La-la Land in April so we were so fortunate to be the first to "play" with it. Finished project size is 9" x 6" x 2". Not a regular box, for sure. It is a special shape and of course, has a special hinge features. ALL dies used here are available from the La-la Land Store found here. I think we counted 10 dies used........can you name them all?...........whew!!! Well worth the cutting for this project!
Here's Sitting Princess Marci closer up (she's a Brunette, of course). She is popped up with foam squares. Noticed the Large rolled flower (a La-la Land die) and some paper flowers - they have touches of Diamond Stickles on them for that sparkle. Behind the flowers is the Large Flourish die. Sitting Princess Marci is sitting on the Stitched Scallop Border Die and Scallop Border Die. On each side of Sitting Princess Marci is the Wrought Iron Fence die (in Kraft color) .Love the new La-la Land Heart Ribbon Corner die (we cut 2 of these to make the corner thicker and more sturdy) positioned on both sides of the box. I had some adhesive white pearls at the time this project was made, the original project had pink pearls so when I got home, I made a card stock template using my 1/8" hole punch to position over the white pearl, then used a pink Copic pen to color the white pearls pink............worked great!
You can see the Book Tab and Labels die being used (in the Kraft color) for both sides of the box. We also cut two of these for each side (which makes 4 pieces) that were glue together to make it a thicker embellishment. Then add those pearls................the Heart Doily Border die (we cut 4 of those in vellum) was used as the backdrop. And, Of course those Butterfly Dies are the detailed embellishments - smaller butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch.
Here you can see the bottom half of the Booktab and Labels die peeking out from the popped up oval. I added some Diamond Stickles around the top edge of the box.
On each side of the box is the Strings of Heart Ribbon Border die used with adhesive pearls positioned in the small open hearts.
This is the front side of the box:
Open the box to reveal the shaped decorative hinge:
And, of course, no project is complete without having some fancy "feet"............there are 5 layers of this paperboard (which means it is really sturdy!).
I LOVE how this project turned out and will definitely be making more fo these for gifts soon.............stay tuned for more projects from this workshop.
Holy cow, that is one AMAZING trinket box. I can't get over all the details and elements. Wow, 15 projects in 2 days? How fun.
