1-1/2" chipboard squares are used for each "scene". Since these were fabric, Beacon's Fabric Tac adhesive used to adhere them onto the white card base.
"Thanks" die cut twice, with the white card stock off set.

Here's how the squares were made: cut the 1-1/2" chipboard square. Cut the fabric slightly larger.
Add sticky tape around the fabric edges:
Remove sticky tape, clip the corner to avoid the bulkiness of the fabric:Here's the result:
