LLC Retreat: Life is Sweet with Fairies Molli

Early November 2015, the 3rd Annual La-la Land Craft Retreat was held in Pacifica, California.  (I'm a little late posting the projects from the retreat). And, again, it was no disappointment. The 2014 LLC Retreat projects were previously posted on my blog starting on Friday, January 23, 2015.  "Life is Sweet" is the theme for this event this year.  At the retreat, we all received pizza boxes containing our "gifts" inside: various adhesive pearls and rhinestones, paper embellishments, ribbon, bag of buttons, some luscious papers, pens, a commemorative themed Tee Shirt celebrating the event, a metal bucket, too.  That's just to start - we all got up to date chatting with our retreat friends from the previous years.  So much fun to be had for the next 2-1/2 days. There is a total of 7 projects today.

The first day of the 3rd LLC Retreat was our very first class session with Irina, the Owner and Designer of La-la Land Crafts. We were all excited when we saw this sample - we were going to make this?  Well, we all did!!!! This project finished size is 12" x 12" x 3/4". It is awesome!!!! Each 4" x 4" x 1/2" section was made using  using lightweight chipboard, then covered using card stock and decorative papers. A gorgeous blue glittered acetate sheet used as a mat. Top left square details: A gold foil die cut Birdcage. On top are the Cherry Blossom Flowers with Yellow stamens. Die cut the Tea Cup with light weight chipboard, curve the cup using a bone folder, then attach the handle on the left side of the cup.  The Lacey Border finishes the top of the tea cup.  Add the Berry Flourish  and some silk flowers to finish off this section after adding a popped up Teacup Molli.
The top left panel:
Closer look at Teacup Molli (oops, photo is a little dark). We all received Copic color details for each image on this project.
Here's a view of the "curved and shaped" teacup made using a bone folder.  Teacup Molli sitting over the teacup edge.
Top right panel details: A die cut Koi Circle is positioned on the base of the square.  Apply the black and gold Fancy Butterflies, then embellish with gradated sized adhesive pearls. Pop the Hanging Hearts in between the butterflies. Note half of the metal filigree is attached using Glossy Accents on the top right side.
Bottom left panel details:  Solid color Heart Doily on the base with Gold foil Wings extending beyond the gold die cut Crown.  Popped up Crown is embellished with adhesive pearls.
Bottom right panel details: A gold foil die cut Filigree Moon is tucked behind where Molli is sitting. There are die cut Cherry Blossom Flowers with Yellow stamens on the left side with leaves from the Berry Flourish. Die cut the Tea Cup with light weight chipboard, curve the cup using a bone folder, then attach the handle on the right side of the cup.  The Lacey Border finishes the top of the tea cup. Teaspoon Molli sits on the teacup and is popped with foam squares.
A closer look at Teaspoon Molli:
See how she is popped with foam squares?
Each corner has a metal filigree corner covering the black strips of card stock.  here you can clearly see the gorgeous blue glitter acetate on top of decorative paper.

Baby Boy Chunky 7" x 7" Album

correction:  book size is 7" x 7" x 2-3/4"
This type album has been previously made (see my blog December 11, 2015  Disney Memories Mini Album). The instructions for this album can be purchased from Cristi Maron in her Etsy shop found here.  Her blog site is called Paper Hoarder Disorder found here. Her assembly video on You Tube is easy to follow and very informative with lots of tips and tricks of assembly. There are lots places for photos in this 6 page album - lots of pages that flip up, flip out, open here, open there, pull out here, pull out there. I wanted a smaller size album for a baby so for this 7" x 7" x 2-3/4" album, I followed Cristi's instructions but reduced the 6 pages and cover size accordingly. Thank you again, Cristi for your inspiration. Here's the finished bag and album:
Album front: Instead of using foam square to pop the argyle mat, the pattern paper is wrapped cleanly around a mat board. This way, the sides will not be white.  The baby Boy medallion is made with several layers of white and blue card stock so it is very sturdy and resembles chipboard. Punches used here: EK Success Zig Zag Chain Punch, EK Success Baby Border, and EK Success 2-1/2" Circle Punch.
Album Spine and back:
Overhead showing pocket tabs:
Album inside front cover and page 1: removable tags. The onesie has a gift card inside. The scallop tag is made using Papertrey Ink's Tag Sale: Quilted Die found here. Baby feet are cut using the Silhouette.
Page 2 and 3: A left side flip page with a pacifier and punched zig zag edge. Right side is a baby bottle tag holder with a pocket page underneath:
Here's the flip page flipped up revealing cut diaper pins as embellishments.  The baby bottle top can be pulled up to reveal a place for small photo or journaling.  There are 3 baby bottle tag holders in this album.
Page 4 and 5: Left side photo mat holder is made using many layers of cut card stock, cleanly covered chipboard mats (instead of foam squares) which match the designer paper used. Right side is the magnetic closed gate fold flaps. Bib is cut using a file from the Silhouette store.
Here are the photo mats removed and the magnetic gate fold flaps opened:
Pages 6 and 7: a left side flip page embellished with a duck and zig zag punched embellishment.  Left side is another baby bottle tag holder.
Open the flip page to reveal a pocket which holds the cut tag (from Papertrey Ink).
Page 8 and 9: Left side pocket with photo mat and right side is a vertical magnetic gate fold with a Rocking Horse closure.
Gate fold opened to reveal inside:
Pages 10 and 11:  Magnetic closed flip up page on the left side and a bottle tag holder on the right side:
These magnetic pages flip up:
On the last page 12 and back inside cover: a larger Rocking Horse is mounted on a cleanly covered chipboard mat.  Behind the Horse is a photo card. Right inside cover has a pocket which holds a photo card.
Here are the removed photo mats:
There are 6 mats in each pocket page.  Each has a circle baby icon used to pull the mats out of the pockets.
Closer look at those 1" EK Success Circle punch tabs:

The bag to hold the album is made using the same Bazzil Blue card stock and white 5/8" satin ribbon for the handles.
Here's the tag on the bag outside. Tag die used is from My Favorite Things Tag Stax. Instead of string it on to the handles, the tag is adhered to bag front. The flip up onesie has a place for a note.
Additional notes:
  • Silhouette Cut Files used: Baby Bottle, Diaper Pins, Baby feet, ABC/123, Rocking Horse, Round Tab Pulls, Baby Boy, Duck.
  • Paper used: Retired Baby Boy Scrapbook Kit from Stampin-Up, Bazzil Blue card stock
I hope you enjoyed this project and try one yourself with other themes.  A very happy crafty day to you all.

Panda Calendar 3D Easel Card with Drawer

Made this project with a 13 year old crafter.  She did a great job completing this project. She has a love for Pandas (and so do I ). Base of project is using Recollection Black card stock. Pink contrast mat is also Recollections card stock. Washi paper from Hanko can be purchased hereBoth shades of green card stock are from my stash. This 3D Easel Card with drawer file was accompanied with a box to hold the project......a great gift option or a spare box that can be used for whatever. It is a Silhouette Design #58155 by Lori Whitlock. The stamped pandas used in this project are from My favorite Things Happy Pandas Stamp and Die set. Memory Box Bamboo Shoots Die used and the Penny Black Geometric Die seen here on the box is centered underneath the panda.  This panda has a Wobble behind it...........fun!
Here is the easel card with drawer inside the box with the calendar holding up the card. The calendar can be found on Taylor Expressions found here. Bamboo Shoot die used as shown.  Note: the shorter Panda on the right is attached to the card using a Wobble.  Larger Panda on the left is popped with foam squares. Heart punch used with Wink of Stella Clear, then popped.
The drawer is pulled out using a metal flower and brad (retired Stampin-Up product)
Thank you for stopping  by today and a happy crafting time for you, too.

Health and Happiness Lucky Cat Card

Inspiration for this card is posted in the gallery of Mama Elephant's site found here .  .  Mama Elephant Lunar Extras stamp and die set used for this card. It is a A2 size card. The stamp set can be found here. Card base is a Light green textured card stock from my stash. The images are stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink, clear embossing powder used  for a more intense result. To make the double layer front, the cut file from the Silhouette store was used. (it is a A2 Snowman Pop Dot Card Design #101040 by Lori Whitlock).  The designs on the corners have been removed by using the Silhouette program. Obviously, the snowman and snowflakes were not used for this card. To make the mountain, another Silhouette file was used: Japan Set Design #78506 - an adjustment to the height of of the mountain was made to the file.
A 1-1/4" Circle punch used for the sun.  Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink used to sponge the edges.
The cherry blossom branch is slipped on to the second layer of the card.

Branch: E35, E37, E39
