My Award

A Very special Thank You to Liz Williams (www.rightbrainmadnesss.blogspot.com) for giving me this award. This blog invests and believes the PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships! These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award. And these are the lovely people that am awarding this beauty to:

These lovely ladies have inspired, encouraged and befriended me. Thank you all!

Birthday Banner

This banner has many shades of Purple and Lavender as requested by a Birthday Girl. The original one is over 8 feet long!!!! Lucky Girl! I couldn't get a sharp photo of the banner because it is so long......and I have made a 2nd one that photographs muych better (because it is way shorter!). This shorter banner has accents of yellow ribbon (as requested).

Both the large and small lavender banner is stamped with the swirls from Baroque Motifs using Lavender Lace Ink. There is a layer of white netting over the Light Lavender (doesn't show up in the photo). On top of the netting is a Dot background stamped scallop circle (Big Shot die) using Close to Cocoa ink. The scallop circle is attached on top of the netting using dimensionals.

The Horizontal Slot Punch was used to string the ribbons and "pearl" strands.

Lots of pre-punched butterflies were ready, along with two shades of purple ribbon: satin and pico edge and pearls by the yard. Below are close-up view of some of the letters.

The tips of the letter banners is the scallop circle (part of the banner die) along with a punched butterfly. There is a dangling clear bead (from the Pretties kit) at the end. 1/4" satin ribbon knotted and bead is threaded through to the tip of the banner.

The silk flowers are from Petaloo (they are called Flora Doodles) and were available in various shades of purple: perfect! "Diamonds" in the flower centers are attached with glue dots are used for the Bling effect.

Paper Clips Match Book

The idea for this Paper Clip Match Book is from Carolina (see her blog www.creativepad.typepad.com 1/8/09 posting). Love her blog because her photo shows her wearing my favorite colors: Red/Black! The finished project size is 4-1/4"x4".

This view below shows the inside of the match book. I am a klutz at trying to cut slits so I opt to use a 1/2" wide panel across to accommodate the paper clips (unfortunately, it covers up the sentiment just a little).

The Asian words are embossed in Gold and backed with Brushed Gold CS. The Bamboo stamping is using the Encore Gold ink. I used the red grosgrain ribbon to hide the staple at the center. The Paper Clip finished length is 2-1/2" long. I need to place 3 Paper Clips (and not 4) - it is bad luck to have 4 in the Asian World.
Here are my instructions:
1. Cut (1) 4-1/4x8-1/2 Black: score @1, 4-7/8, 5-1/8
2. Cut (1) 3x4 Real Red, stamp with Versmark and emboss in gold for outside cover.
3. Stamp Thank You (Asian Word) on Naturals Ivory and cut Black background. Adhere with dimensionals.
4. Fold up 1" and staple, wrap 1/4" grosgrain around and knot.
5. Cut 3-1/4x4 Naturals Ivory, stamp Bamboo using Encore Gold Ink.
6. Cut 1/2x4-1/2 for band. Using Stampin Write Black Pen on
"Thank You", position with Stamp-a-mah-jig in the middle (tricky!). Do not attached to match book yet.
7. Stamp Asian Words in Versamark, emboss, use 1" Circle Punch.
8. Use 1-1/4" Circle Punch in Brushed Gold, punch Black for back of paper clip. Adhere together using Pop-Up glue dot
9. After assembling Paper Clips, place on band, then wrap excess to the back of paper and then adhere to match book so it can be "centered".
10. done!
SU Supplies: Stamp: Embrace Life, Elegant Thank You. CS: Real Red, Naturals Ivory, Black, Brushed Gold. Ink: Versamark, Encore Gold, 1/4" Real Red Grosgrain, Dimensionals, Pop Up Glue Dots.
Other Suppliers: Stamps: Hero Arts Petite Print (cover), Stamp Magick (www.stampmagick.com used on Paper Clips), Red Paper Clips.

Chopstick Kimono Boy/Girl

A quick Posting: You can also use these Kimono kids for Chopstick Holder gifts. Use a clear bag and tie with ribbon and it will be the perfect gift for eating and for reading. The chopstick holder looks fine without the book mark, too.
