Matchbox Week: Tools for Him

So I've been working on gift items for GUYS...my inspiration: a gift card holder my DB (Darling Boyfriend) got at Xmas. It was a metal tool box tin..........so why not a Tool Box Matchbox? Those cute "tools": they are small Buttons (Dress it Up: Tool Time).

The "tools" fit easily inside the Matchbox.

Here's a picture of the handle: Cut 3/8" x 3-1/2". Score 1/2", 7/8", 2-5/8", 3.

The items needed to make this ensemble: Note the Tool Box cover is not functional - it is just for looking...........not opening. The lid size is: 2" x 2-3/4". Score on the 2" side: 3/4". Use the 3/16 Corner rounder for the 2 corners as shown.

To obtain that "old" grungy look: lightly sponge black around the folded edges of the Matchbox Cover and Matchbox. Don't forget to lightly sponge the punched Silver Small Oval Punch and 3/4" Circle (you will need to cut this in half) CS, too.

Make sure the brads are placed through the Matchbox tool lid BEFORE it is attached to the Matchbox cover. Use the Horizontal Punch on the Matchbox Tool Lid 1/2" away from the lid side edge and 1/4" up from the lid bottom edge .
I had to snip one of the "legs" of the brads on the Black tabs (word window punch) so they wouldn't show. Then apply the silver CS half circle behind the Black tabs using a glue dot. Finally, attach the lid to the Matchbox cover using sticky tape or glue dots. The words "Tools" are applied last using Tombow Adhesive.
Supplies:

  • Stamps: none
  • CS: Riding Hood Red, Black, Brushed Silver
  • Ink: Black
  • Accys: SU Exclusive Matchbox Bigz XL Die, SU Exclusive Billboard Alphabet Die, Small Oval Punch, Horizontal Slot Punch, Word Window Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, 3/16" Corner Punch, Stamping Sponges, Sticky Tape, Piercer, Tombow Adhesive, Gold Brads, Tool Buttons (non SU).

Thank you for stopping by this week to see how much fun can be had with this exclusive Matchbox die..........next week: hmmmmm will be ---week or more Matchbox fun. Stay tuned.
