Cake in a Box: Star Wars

"Cake in the Box" project with the Star War theme. Finished project size is 4" x 4". Stickers used for this project. (Very economical: $1.73 for 4 sheets total which includes tax). This Boy Birthday gift is quick to make. The Basic Grey lid is using stickers framed in Going Grey CS with a layer of Black CS. Dimensionals "lift" up both the sticker frames and Black CS. Don't forget to put a dimensional in the center so there are no "cave ins". Tie a Black satin ribbon around the lid. Lastly, attach a large punched star in the center using Tombow glue.

With the lid off, top view of the inside. See how the sides wrap "around" to the box?

This view shows the entire box "flat/opened" revealing stickers in each 3-3/4" square in Basic Grey and Going Grey. Multi color punched stars were used. Note the star colors co-ordinate with the stickers in each square. After all, this is "Star Wars".
Front view of the cake: Top layer and center is Going Grey, Mid layer and center is Basic Grey, Bottom layer and center is Black. Yes, this was planned. Various sticker images are placed around the cake using Tombow Glue.

Back of cake:

How does a cake project get made using stickers? Here's what I started out with. A package of stickers (4 sheets) purchased from a retail party store. These happen to be the perfect size (no more than 1-3/4" high). Cut out the images (keep back of stickers on for cut images).

These cut out stickers will be used for layering the cake.

For the lid, I kept the square format but chose to cut out the white frames around the sticker. Perfect for the lid! I just had to trim off a little to make the stickers square. Easy!
Supplies used:
  • Stamp: "Happy Birthday" from Penny Black
  • CS: Going Grey, Basic Grey, Black, Summer Sun, Tempting Turquoise, Kiwi Kiss, Real Red, Brilliant Blue
  • Ink: Black
  • Accys: Large Star Punch, Star Punch, Big Shot SU Naturally Serif die for "Jack", Tombow Glue, Sticky Tape, Dimensionals (non SU).

Thank you for stopping by.....may this inspire you to think about using stickers in another way (how about Hello Kitty stickers?)......stay tuned for another "cake in a box" project tom....xoxo.
