Asian Wedding Decor

These are some of the ideas for an upcoming wedding in August 2009.
The Table Decor: a large Asian word is an example of a table decoration to be in the middle of the table using a bamboo stick in a bowl of rice - Both bamboo and rice represent good fortune in the Asian culture. The front of the signage is the word both in Chinese and English, the back (next photo) is the definition. Size of sign is 8-1/2 x 11.
The Place Cards: On the right side of the photo, the silk coin purse will hold the place card. Bamboo stamped in Old Olive is on the left corner.
The Party Favor: The suggested take out box is 2-1/4 high x 2-3/4 at top: cost .20/pc. This will hold exactly (1) fortune cookie. The Double Happiness word is pre-printed before the box is assembled. Of course, the handles are in gold wire, too.

This is the back of the signage, place card, and take out box:

An alternative:
The chopstick is wrapped in stamped Gold embossed blossoms with a strip of Black. Chopsticks represent "always having something to eat" in the Asian culture. This take out box is a bit larger in size: 2-5/8" high x 3-1/4" at top: cost .45/pc. What will this box hold? Hmmmmm......lots! Instead of handles, this box is closed by using 3/4" Gold Organdy ribbon. There is a "love" tag which can also have the bride and groom's name in the back. Slip the chopsticks underneath the ribbon.

Take Out Box Comparison: the one in the middle is store bought (Michael's .89/pc - wow!). The store bought take out box has silver handles and the position of the handles limits the space for any decorating. In addition, I noticed that the box is a coated red color so when you look at the top of the box, the white (inside) shows - yeeek! Is that OK?

Here are two more alternatives: A 2-4-6-8 box: cost .15/pc (size 2" wide x 3-2/3" high) and a Basket box: cost .20/pc (3-1/2" wide x 4-1/2" high"). These both can hold a fortune cookie and also chocolates.

These are alternative can be tags for consideration:

OK - these are some ideas to be tossed around.............hope everyone else does enjoy this, too.........

  1. Love your ideas. My DH is Chinese born here and our DS is getting married in Sept. Did you ever dip your fortune cookies in melted chocolate? Then you could add red sprinkles. We did pink for my DD's sweet 16. Very fast and cheap too! Mary<><
