Are You Kidding?

OMG - My fellow blogging friend: Eunice (http://www.astarforchiemi.blogspot.com/) sent me a surprise package. She made the best Asian card using her Cricut - she's so smart! And, she also included a way cool Gift Card Holder Purse which I admired from across the ocean (she lives in Hawaii). She has another Gift Card Holder Purse posted on her blog. I must have wished really hard because she not only sent the purse in my FAVORITE color but she also sent the template.........now that is going beyond great!

A close-up of us "pals" - How did she know I wear my hair up ALL the time?

The character on the shiny red paper is "friend" Euncie cut out using her cricut. I love the hearts around the opening, too.

Inside the card:
And here is the Gift Card Holder Purse. The finished size is 6-7/8" x 4-1/2"

First, absolutely love the closure: it's magnetic - a great subsitute for Velcro!

Inside the purse and side view:

It is SOOOO nice to have blogging friends - I am soooo lucky! Thank you, Eunice for your kindness!

A Pop Up Cake for Taylor

This is the card for Taylor - she loves Elmo! The "2" on the front spins!!!!

See?

When the card is opened, a Pop-Up Cake with Elmo peeking out at the top left corner is revealed.

Here is a closer look at the cake. Tip: Cut the top of the cake so it is not more than 1" high otherwise it will peek out of the card when it is closed.

Here is the back of the cake:

And here is Elmo: Face is using the Scallop Circle Punch. 1/2" Punch used for the eyes and Nose. 1/4" Circle Punch used for the pupils. For the mouth, use a 5/8" Circle Punch and cut in half.

Here's what it took to make this card. See the strips for the cake? To enable these strips to wrap around the cake more easily, they are "curled". (run the strips of paper in between 2 fingers: just like curling ribbon)

This is how the "spinner was made. It uses 2 real pennies with a dimensional in between to enable it to spin.

Supplies:
  • Stamps: Happy Everything, On Your Birthday, Dot Background, Schoolbook Serif Numbers (asterisk), "2" Mixed Font (making Memories)
  • CS: Real Red, Only Orange, Summer Sun, Whisper White, Going Grey, Black
  • Ink: Craft White, Real Red
  • Accys: Big Shot Pop-Up Cake Die, Big Shot Scallop Circle, Big Shot Naturally Serif Alphabet Die, Word Window Punch, 1-1/4" Circle Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, 5/8" Circle Punch (non SU), 1/4" Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Trio Flower Punch, Stampin' Write Pens: Real Red, Summer Sun, Only Orange, Sticky Tape, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots.

Taylor had a great time celebrating her birthday. Thank you for stopping by today...........XOXO

A Gift for Taylor

It's not a card - it's something else!
Look at this cute gift I made for my Grand Niece: Taylor - she is turning 2 and it is about time I finished this project before she becomes a teenager! I had it for a while (2 years) and pushed myself to finally finish it! Here it is "rolled up".
Here it is unrolled: it's a quilt. Finished size is 54-1/2" x 41-1/2" and is filled with 100% Polyester needle punched light loft batting.......yummy soft! It is machine stitched around each Baby with a surprise Baby in the center back of the quilt. It's not the warmest quilt but it is the cutest quilt!

Here are some of the cute "babies" making funny faces:

This baby is in the center back of the quilt. At the bottom is a tag: P.S. I Love You!
Once I got started on this quilt - it went quickly - getting started is half the battle. The printed fabric is called "Peek-a-Boo" by Amy Bradley Designs for Moda (http://www.modafabrics.com/). I purchased this fabric in a fabric shop in San Mateo a few years ago. Both printed and solid fabric is pre-washed for minimal shrinkage after use by Taylor. Am glad I can finally hand this project to Taylor to enjoy.

Thank you for visiting today.............XOXO

A Surprise Gift

OMG - I got the best surprise in the mail from my fellow blogging friend: Barbara. She is such a talented lady - you would be in awe of her creations in soft dolls, 3-D, and card creations. So pay a visit to her blog http://www.whimcees.blogspot.com/ to see more details on these wonderful items posted on her blog dated 7/21. There's a tutorial on how to create those great roses and also a variety of post it note holders she has made.
Here's a close-up of the emboss and re-inker technique detail - the colors are "happy" - all I could say was "WOW".
Such detail with adhesive pearls
And, here is the 2nd surprise (or prize!): a post it note holder. I love this style and the embossed hearts as well as the special pearl hearts - now where did she get those? hmmm...........
Here's the post it note inside:
The back is also embossed with hearts.
This certainly made my day and I love having the mail man come around. I never knew the blogging world would be the doorway to new found friends as kind as Barbara.................thank you! Have a great day all.....................XOXO

Podium Book

Look at this project - I LOVE IT! It's in my favorite colors and it is also a book!!!! What could be better? The best thing: it is a Club Scrap "Elegance" kit that is available to order from my friend Connie. Contact her at http://www.creatingwithconnie.blogspot.com/ - You can see the "Summer Fun" (Green Color) Podium Book on her blog. This kit comes with all the necessary items to complete the project (including all the pages and messages shown). You only need to supply the glue and bone folder. I added a couple items to my version: Tabs to some of the pages and stamped images, Dimensionals used for the front cover message. Leave this great project out for all to see - the book can be removed by opening the rings. This is the project WITH the album on the podium.

The front album cover and the back album cover:

Podium with back side of album:
Now to the pages: Note there are tabs (punched using the scraps from the kit)used on every other page. All the paper from the kit was used.

The Podium back and side view:

The finished size of the podium is: 16" x 8". The finished size of the book and pages: 6" x 6". There are 14 pages (that means room up to 28 photos) plus the front and back cover.
